Dwarkamai is awake once again…


On the beautiful morning of Kojagiri Poornima, Sadguru Bapuji proceeded from Happy Home to Govidyapeetham Karjat, with a few devotees along with Him. All the fellow devotees who were travelling by two buses and a few cars reached Govidyapeetham by 10.15 a.m. Though all of us have known each other for quite a few years now but somehow of late had not met or interacted with one another due to lack of time arising from generally other pre occupations in life. Each one's countenance was beaming with joy and pleasure at the prospect of the reunion after such a long period. In spite of this joy every one one still had a single question drumming in their minds – Why has our dear God unexpectedly called all of us collectively today? What is exceptional that is going to take place today?

" Come Bapu has called all of you", immediately on receiving this communication, all of us on finishing our breakfast proceeded towards Bapu. On reaching the main hall we could see a new structure on the left hand side. We all started walking in that direction. We also took off our footwear before entering the place.

All our eyes shone up when we saw the scene inside the edifice. We saw P.P Bapu, Nandamai, Suchit Dada and Sameer Dada in front of us. Bapu, started asking all of us, come and see, how do you all like this? Time, minutes and years seemed to have stood still and all was erased from each one's mind. This is the most beautiful moment! - it was the universal feeling being experienced by each one present there. Bapu was smiling with immense joy and pleasure. He said, "So, do you recollect anything? Yes, this place where we all have gathered is the Dwarkamai of Shirdi. Exactly the same.

Bapuji started explaining," When Sainath was in Shirdi and the Dwarkamai that existed then - this is exactly the same Dwarkamai, the unchanged Dwarkamai of the year 1916". Really on entering that structure one wondered if the wheels of time had moved backwards? All present there experienced the identical thought. Nearly after 90 years everybody had reached Sainath's era, all of us just could not believe what was happening. Where 1916 and where we were in 2005 now?

We wondered what Hemadpant would have felt if he was amongst us now? The Sai of Shri Saisatcharit has always given to the entire universe and is eternal. If Hemadpantji was here today, how pleased he would have been, was the active thought that raced through our minds. Wish, he could have himself narrated all about Dwarkamai to us today. The flooring on the ground was the same, the same walls, the same pillars, the same place for Baba to sit, the same aasan, fireplace, the courtyard of Dwarkamai, the cooking place in the courtyard, the place where Baba used to stand - everything was just exactly the same. The most important article was right in front of Dwarkamai; it was the rock on which Baba used to sit and Sainathji's photograph above the rock. What all do I observe? What do I experience? Where all do I look? This was the state all of us were in on that day. The ones who recollected all the preceding memories just could not stop their flow of tears. Today nobody could or wanted to control the tears of joy that were rising from the innermost being of one's self. Somebody was surely sowing the seeds of Sai Aniruddha's love today.

Sameer Dada offered beautiful garlands both at Sai's photograph kept at the seat made of rock as well as the dhuni. He then very lovingly and respectfully bowed and paid obeisance at both the places. All were enthralled at this sight.


As per Bapu's instructions Sameer Dada installed our beloved Hemadpant's photograph in the Dwarkamai and offered a garland to the same too and again bowed low very humbly. Then we all followed Bapu to the holy Pushkarini tirtha. Here Bapu Himself installed the Garudstambh. Bapuji said," These two most important devotees meaning Garud and Hanumant are not different from one another. After the Murlidhar main hall was established, then for some time very important prayers were conducted here and only after the successful completion of those Upasanas today we can install this pillar over here. On this pillar is the Garud, the eagle that is Ram's vehicle. This is the centre point, which will erase our sins, and Hanuman in any case is always chanting Ram's name. In the Panchmukh Hanumatkavach Strotra when we see the face in the Panchmukhi form we can understand the oneness of both.

Bapuji Himself paid obeisance to that pillar and after putting His ear to the pillar, He hugged the same very lovingly. Bapuji said," Any kind and gentle being who puts his ear with full devotion to this pillar will surely be able to hear the Ramnaam. The Mahapraan of the universe, Hanuman is incessantly chanting Ram's name.


After the installation of the Garudstambh Bapu brought all of us back to Dwarkamai. Bapu asked all of us to sit in the open space there and He Himself along with Suchit Dada and Nandamai sat on the steps of the Dwarkamai. Bapuji then said, "Any devotee can come here, if anybody wants to experience the Sai Satcharit then that person has to just come and sit here. You can read the Sai Satcharit here, write the Ramnaam and if nothing else you can sit facing Sainath's photograph and gaze lovingly and adoringly in His eyes. We can experience the incidents and events that are described in the Sai Satcharit in this very place. Outside Dwarkamai are planted all those trees that are mentioned in the Sai Satcharit." Suddenly nobody had any other world existing at that place and moment, each one there was only eager to actually live the life during the time when the Sai Satcharit was written. Dwarkamai was now fully awake and was arousing her little infants too. Everybody was completely lost and totally immersed in Bapu's words and the peaceful environment resonant there. The mangalcharan, the 11 promises, the gajjar of Sai's name and the grand finale was Sainath's arati. Bapu was one with all the devotees during the singing of the prayers. Nobody wanted to leave this Gurukul; all had the strong urge to be there forever. Soon it was 2.30 in the afternoon. All present in Dwarkamai were actually experiencing the Sai Satcharit in some way or the other. Some read the 11th chapter of the Sai Satcharit, some were writing the Ramnaam, some were narrating Baba's tales and some were talking about grandfather Chaubal. Now the play of sun and shade since morning was replaced by dark clouds and soon after some time it started raining. It kept pouring continuously. Everybody was reminded of the 11th chapter of the Sai Satcharit. Bapuji said," For every true Sai bhakt, Sai Satcharit itself is Shirdi and the 11th chapter is Dwarkamai and the Sai sitting in Dwarkamai is the blessing and grace that is received from reading the 11th chapter.

"पुरेल अपूर्व इच्छित काम । व्हाल अंती पूर्ण निष्काम । पावाल दुर्लभ सायुज्यधाम । अखंड राम लाधाल ।"

" Purel Apurva Ichit Kaam. Vyahal Anti Purna Nishkam. Pavaal Durlabh Sayujyadhaam. Akhand Ram Ladhaal"

This is the only verse in the Shri Saisatcharit where Hemadpant has given complete assurance about being able to attain the eternal Ram. This is the Rudradhayay. Rudra meaning Shiv. Shiv also is ceaselessly chanting Ram's name. Bapu then came back to Dwarkamai at 6.30 in the evening and did the installation of the Tulsi Vrindavan in the courtyard of Dwarkamai and then initiated the Satsang. In the Satsang at first Das Ganu's "Shirdi Majhe Pandharpur" was recited 5 times, then the Sairam Jaap, followed by the gajjar of Govind Krishna Vithal, then Chaubaldada' s gajjar – "Om Sai Shri Sai Jai Jai Sairam" was chanted. Bapuji addressed all by saying, "Friends, This Dwarkamai is not a replica of the Dwarkamai in Shirdi but is the reinstatement of the original Dwarkamai itself. My dear ones come again and again to this edifice, read the Sai Satcharit, write the Ramnaam and keep on gazing lovingly at Sainathji. Where must be my Sainath seated? How would have Mirikar come here? When Madhavrao was bitten by the snake, how he must have come running here? Try and reminisce these events and through that learn to experience Baba. On coming here each being will experience peace and a sense of balance.

The pure vibrations and the holy environment here have a lot to offer to all. You can even stay here; you can sit the entire night in Dwarkamai.

"लागता या शाळेस पाय । कोण हतभागी माघारा जाय ।'

"Lagta Ya Shalesh Paaye, Kaun Hatbhaagi Maghara Jaaye".

I give you full assurance that nobody who enters this place will go back empty handed. We all will come here to celebrate the Deepotsav on the day of Kartik Ekadashi. This Dwarkamai has eight corners. Many individuals have strived very hard to create this beautiful Dwarkamai. We must first and foremost leave the habit of making excuses when we are serving God or doing any work assigned by Him and more important than that is that we must stop being untruthful in front of Him. He is filled with "Truth" Himself. When you speak lies to Him, then even if He wishes to, He cannot help you. So please immediately stop being dishonest.

I am very pleased at seeing that each one has a Ramnaam book and each one is also seeming very eager to complete this notebook. Ramnaam has a lot of strength. This is that one place which radiates energy to all in equal proportion irrespective of the kind of person."

Bapu kept talking and we went on listening, and may these moments never ever conclude was the yearning in each one's heart. It was in this very Dwarkamai that Baba had ground the grains to destroy the troubles in the minds of the people. Sainathji lit the lamps of Bhakti in the hearts of each one. Whether atheist or devotee all come to Dwarkamai for shelter in times of difficulty. Without any differentiation of this one is mine ant the other is not, Sainath blesses each one with Udi and grace. Mahalsapati and Kote Patil have stayed awake many a nights in this very Dwarkamai. The title of "Hemadpant" after the famous "Dhoolbeth" was awarded to Hemadpantji in this very Dwarkamai. Das Ganu was blessed with the Prayag Darshan also over here itself. On Diwali when Baba was refused oil, He lit lamps with the help of water instead, again in this very Dwarkamai. P.P. Bapu's great grandfather and Sadguru Shri Vidyamakrand Gopinathshastri Padhye according to the wishes of Swami Samarth had come to visit Sainathji at this very place and here itself He was asked, " Have you recognized me now atleast?" This question was asked by Baba in this Dwarkamai itself. Not one or two but innumerable devotees have come to Dwarkamai to meet Shri Sainathji. Each was sheltered and supported by Dwarkamai.

One of the devotees asked Bapu why the foundation of the Dwarkamai was being performed on the occasion of Kojagiri Poornima? Then Bapu explained that for this there are three beautiful and important reasons. The first was the description of the incident of irrepressible rain when the weather was uncontrollable and the way Sainathji had exhibited full control over the fury of nature in the eleventh chapter, the second was when Das Ganu went to seek permission from Baba to go to Prayag and was told by Baba that your Prayag is very much over here only and He was blessed with the Ganga and Yamuna river flowing from Baba's divine feet and the most important reason was that Kojagiri Poornima was the day when Sainath had arrived in Shirdi and was welcomed by Mahalsapati in the Khandoba temple with the greeting of " Come Sai". All these three very important incidents had taken place on the day of the Kojagiri Poornima itself.

The Services Rendered by the Aniruddha Academy of Disaster Management (AADM)

26th July 2005 or 26/7 – just the mention of this date sends shivers down the spine of the residents of Mumbai even today after a year of its occurrence. Nearly every person who lives in Mumbai faced some difficulty or the other on that day. Many had to spend the night at their work place, many in the trains, buses, taxis, or personal cars or may have been forced to spend that long night at the railway stations. The ones who were lucky somehow managed to reach a relative or friend’s house. Apart from this, each home in the city had family members who were restless and awake throughout the night waiting for their near and dear ones to reach home safely.


It is seen that by and large everybody eagerly awaits the first showers of the rain to get some respite from the escalating summer heat. But the continuous and torrential rains of 26th July 2005, left the people of Mumbai not only completely in a state of shock but also in a distressed condition. People still shudder at the thought of that day. It is said that Mumbai has not experienced this kind or level of rainfall in the last 100 years.

Mumbai was flooded from all sides. Only water and more water could be seen in all the four directions. The railway service had to be discontinued and the vehicles on the roads also could not move ahead. The smaller vehicles and other objects were seen floating around and many shops and houses got filled with water too. So much so, that in some areas the rainwater rose to higher heights than the first floor levels of the buildings. All around there was lamentation. Nearly everybody was stuck somewhere or the other. Along with objects, human corpses as well as animal carcasses were seen floating in the water. People could not reach out and help one another even if they wished to.

Even the next day, on 27th July the regular schedule of people was unsettled. Those who were caught and had taken shelter somewhere or the other on the previous night were now seen to be trying to get back home. The transport services were totally immobilized, people were now uneasy with hunger and thirst. The damage and loss of lives and property had made life very poignant. Whom could we expect help and assistance from? At such a frightening and gruesome time, the Disaster Management Volunteers (DMV’s) of the AADM, without being concerned about any difficulties ventured out and competently helped many people and also saved a number of lives.


At first nobody thought that one would have to get out of the comforts of their homes to help and serve others. But when the Mumbai police commissioner Mr.A.N.Roy sent a message requesting help for relief and safety, then instantaneously all our DMV’s were sent an urgent message and every one was asked to report at the Kalina 10 feet road location. All the DMV’s assembled there in rows of three in a very disciplined manner. From the conversation between the DMV’s one could realize that they had also not been spared from the difficulties around, somebody’s house was filled with water and the other one’s brother was stuck somewhere, somebody’s valuables had been carried away in the water and there was absolutely no food left in the other’s house! In spite of such a state in their individual lives they did not hesitate to come out and help others.

When a committee member asked them a question, “Who will pick up the dead bodies?” Then some of the DMV’s hesitatingly put up their hand, this was the first occurrence when they would be picking up corpses. This was the first instance when the DMV’s were performing such a service. Our organization had equipped the DMV’s with adequate gloves and masks to ensure their personal hygiene and safety. All the DMV’s reached the venue where the service was to be conducted in a very disciplined and organized manner. Due to the heavy rains there was a massive landslide in that particular area of Kalina. When the DMV’s reached the scene of the landslide they saw that many houses had collapsed and a number of people were buried under the rubble and debris of the wrecked houses. The situation was very alarming and worrisome. There was a heap of mucky mud and the dirty soil along with rushing water was playing havoc. The pouring and lashing rains were just incessant and uncontrollable.

The fire brigade was already present there and the police and home guards were alert too. When the citizens saw the DMV’s helping the police and the fire brigade in the relief work, they also joined in to do the same. The DMV’s were mainly assisting the police and the fire brigade. The DMV’s worked very hard and with a lot of dedication to remove the corpses which were buried underground or were captured under the huge rocks over a large area. Apart from this service the DMV’s also helped to regulate the traffic, clearing the way for the ambulances and other such vehicles.

There were 150 DMV’s from Kalina, Marol, Andheri, Kurla etc locations who were involved in this rescue service. At that time the situation was such that, staying in dirty and swampy waters for a long duration could lead to the contraction of a hazardous disease like Laptospoirasis. Even then without bothering about one’s own safety, hunger, thirst or comfort each and every DMV of the AADM continued to take part in all kinds of difficult services. Even after continuously serving for 2 long days, all the DMV’s were safe and reported back to their places of work.

Apart from the above the DMV’s of the AADM conducted various kinds of services in many other flood-affected areas too. Some of them are listed below:

  1. The secretary of the relief and revenue department, Shri Vatsyaji appealed for help to distribute food packets in the flood affected areas. For this service, 22 DMV’s helped in the Mantralaya and 27 DMV’s lent a helping hand in the Collector’s office at Bandra.
  2. 20 DMV’s assisted in the relief function at the leprosy camp at Borivali.
  3. There was request for help even at the Air India Colony at Santacruz. Our DMV’s distributed 1000 candles, facemasks, and food packets in this area. The volunteers from the Kalina and Vile Parle centers also extended their support in the AADM services being offered. The Police Commissioner Shri A N Roy personally came and inspected this area and acknowledged the services and help extended by the institute.
  4. AADM had also promptly sent medical teams to Shahad and Murbaad. Totally 523 patients were examined and individual need based medication was immediately given.
  5. Medical Teams were also sent to 4 villages at Badlapur. Here, our teams examined 1436 patients. The CIO of Badlapur Parishad, Shri Prakash Borse was also present there with the Chief Medical Officer.

ANIRUDDHA ACADEMY OF DISASTER MANAGEMENT
MONSOON PLAN

The memories of last years monsoon floods are fresh in everybody’s minds. To combat any such possible situations this year, AADM volunteers and the AADM Committee members worked day and night and came out with various proposals.

AADM purchased Life Boats for effective rescue operation, AADM instructed every center to prepare the things like Rope ladder, Tire tube float, PET bottle float (A float prepared by joining together various closed Pet Bottles), Plastic Rope (A rope made by tying together plastic bags) prepared various, all these things are made under the guidance of our Sadguru Bapu.

The above mentioned things are ready at every upasana center in the quantity of 3 to 5. This is made possible by the combined efforts of AADM Dean Param Pujya Shri Samirdada, AADM committee members, and DMVs.

We can see that the above mentioned things are very easy to make and require no further cost to purchase them. Things like tires, Plastic PET bottles, plastic bags etc. are easily available at anybody’s residence, and generally they are thrown out as waste. So by doing this, we are utilizing our creating best out of waste.


MCGB (Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika ) also recognized our work in various activities, like the sevas performed by our DMVs at Saki Naka land slide during 2005 flash floods, Ganeshmurti Visarjan and punarvisarjan, Siddhivinayak Mandir Seva (Crowd control) etc., and thus the MCGB approached AADM this year so as to assist them in combating various disasters during this years monsoon within the municipal area of MCGB.

BMC asked us to arrange for demonstrations of rescue operations in each ward, and our DMVs performed these rescue demonstrations (Mock drills) successfully.

MCGB’s Asst. Muncipal Comissioner authorities made necessary arrangements of 10 DMVs in each ward ( total 25 wards ) on an” all time ready “ position. 18 dates have been alloacated by the MCGB authorities as maximum “high tide dates” and all these DMVs will be stationed at various wards.

All these things were decided in the meeting that was called by MCGB Commissioner with Sadguru Shri Aniruddha Foundations CEOs and Jt. Director and Dy. Directors of AADM.

In the next step, a list of all flood prone areas and the areas of possible land slide is collected from BMC by AADM, AADM core team members have personally visited these places.

All these things were decided in the meeting that was called by BMC Commissioner with AADM Directors.

According to the current updates obtained by AADM office,

  1. Every center has their disaster plan ready.
  2. A total 3000 DMV’s are ready in Mumbai to counteract the possible flood conditions, as well as any disaster. Each ward office will be provided with 110 DMV’s (10 members of rescue team and 100DMVs to support them )
  3. DMV’s will only play a role in assisting the government bodies and Police force; they will not take any decision on their own.
  4. On the other side AADM is also organizing AADM- Basic courses for BMC employees on their request.

AADM is always ready to combat any disaster,
We also witnessed the way the DMVs helped the Mumbai citizens by using their water floats made from truck tyre-tubes and pocket lines during the heavy monsoon rains lashed the city on 4th and 5th July 2006.The DMVs informed their fellow DMVs by using the communication chain , reached the water logged areas, formed groups and rescued the old , kids and all those who needed their help.

HARI OM

It is this Radhaji who grants prosperity, glory, and grandeur to all beings. She keeps granting us strength and I ask why does She do this? She does this so that the Jiva can transform to a Jivatma, so that the Tamoguna and Rajoguna can get transformed to Sattvaguna, sadness can convert to happiness and restlessness into peace. She grants us five kinds of strengths. As we saw earlier, the first one was Survanabal, the second one was Raupyabal and the third one that we will see today is called the Mautikbal or Muktabal meaning a pearl. Like we understood earlier that the Suvarnabal does not mean Kanchanbal and Raupyabal does not mean the bal or strength from the element silver, similarly Muktabal does not mean the strength from a pearl.

Motibal is the strength to be free. It is not freedom as in getting salvation, but instead being free from oneself. This Bal frees us from our vices, it gives us freedom from internal enemies, and we get to be free of our sins, to be free from bondages of our previous births and also from our responsibilities. Being free from one’s responsibility is not to ignore it but instead to fulfill them to the best of one’s ability. The real strength that the Muktabal gives us is the power is to perform all our duties fully. This strength is given by Radhaji to all, it is with the support of this bal that each being finds the strength and is able to complete one’s responsibilities and duties. If a being has taken a human birth and does not fulfill his duties, that person should be not be considered a human being, but think that he has become an animal. This means that Muktabal is so important that it establishes the humanity of a human being and this Bal is the third most eminent strength given to us.

Radhaji is eager and restless to grant this third most significant boon to each and every being irrespective of however sinful or undeserving a person is. We only know that to be Mukta or get salvation means to lose everything. This is not that Bal, this strength instead frees you from your own vices, to be free from your own responsibilities. Motibal allows you to fulfill your duties to the best of your abilities. The strength that we need to perform all our duties and complete all our tasks is the strength that is Muktabal or Mautikbal.

We are all aware of how a pearl is formed. Now days there are artificial pearls being made, that is another matter. Some say that when a special drop of seawater enters the oyster shell a pearl is formed. This is not at all true and our ancient sages were also aware of this. The fact is that there is an insect that resides in the oyster shell and through its own natural secretion and particles creates a pearl. A human being, who in turn uses it as an ornament, then extracts this pearl.

Have we ever wondered how did our ancestors manage to extract pearls from underwater, as they did not have access to any naval boats, ships or any other advanced instruments that we have access to currently, nor did our sages have any equipments designed for underwater diving. How did they then get the pearls from the depths of the ocean? At least since the last seven eight thousand years, there has been a reference to the existence and use of pearls in our history. This goes to prove that man’s curiosity, his keen sense of discovery and invention, his capacity to research exists with him right from the beginning of his existence and is present till today. It is with this capacity and strength that man continues to progress in different spheres of life. Both in the spiritual field as well as worldly physical matters.

Man discovered the pearl and also understood the importance of the same, but it is only in India that the pearl was not utilized merely as a jewel, the same holds true for gold, silver and diamond too. It is only in our country that all these were seen to contribute in other fields too. Through out the world these elements are used as expensive material things, but India discovered the use of these in the field of ayurveda too. Those familiar with ayurveda will know that gold dust has an immense medicinal value, similarly silver and pearl dust too are of great importance in this field of medicine. In ayurveda all these are used to treat some rare and difficult diseases.

This shows that India’s contribution is in not seeing wealth as wealth alone but has always had the viewpoint to observe a given object in its totality and in all the aspects. Everything is seen in a holistic perspective. The other countries lacked this perspective and saw of gold and silver only as expensive elements and thus never realized the full potential and strength of these. This was actualized only by Indian culture and thus we gained from the medicinal values of gold, silver, and pearl dust. Along with this our sages and religious leaders also discovered other qualities of these various elements. They used pearls for making medicines and ornaments and they also discovered that the pearl had a strong connection with the moon.

Any discovery begins with first a hypothesis in the mind, based on which we start observing and studying. We keep doing research on this hypothesis and strive to gain all the information and knowledge on that subject.

When the sages and those conversant with scriptures found that there was a deep relation between the moon and the pearl, they also started pondering over the formation of a pearl. They found that the creature inside the oyster shell that creates the pearl also has some links with nighttime. They soon discovered that the quantity of pearls that were formed was more towards the full moon day, thus their hypothesis was confirmed that there is a deep connection between the two.

Let us now see what is the moon? The moon was never considered to have its own light in Indian history. In western countries the realization of the same came about 400 years back. The moon reflects the light emitted by the sun. Our ancestral sages had known this truth since the Rigved Kal. When they understood that the moon is only reflecting the sun’s light, they also came to the conclusion thus that moonlight is very gentle, mild and not very intense. It is also beneficial.

The sages then discovered the close link between the moon and a human being’s mind. They learnt through experience that mental ailments wavered according to the waxing and waning of the moon. These were impacted most on full moon days and also on the darkest day of the fortnight. It is not true to believe that psychological or mental imbalance is linked to occult and mysticism. But it is true that the state of mind is linked to the positions of the moon. They concluded that since the moon and the state of mind of a human being are linked, then the pearl should also surely have some effect on the mind of a man and thus the sages started the use of pearl as a medicine. They agreed to use the pearl as it was mild and gentle and it helped to reduce the sharpness and intensity of heat in a human body. Pearl was then used to reduce acidity and other heat related ailments. Along with this they also discovered that wearing of a pearl led to reduction in anger.

For all the husbands sitting here today, if your wife has a short temper, bring her a pearl necklace and it will benefit in both ways. One because you got her a necklace, she will be pleased and also on wearing the necklace the effects of the pearl will cool her hot temperament. Also the wives here need to be doing the same if their dear husbands have an angry nature. They will of course not wear a necklace, so you will have to think of something else. I am of course just joking, but getting back to the topic our sages understood the definite connection between the pearl and the mind.

The pearl then started being used both as a jewel as well as for medicinal purposes. They also provided guidelines for the kind of person who should or should not be wearing a pearl. A person who is already very withdrawn or carries many fears should not be wearing a pearl was decided by our rishis. Instead a person who is very reckless or is very hot headed will surely benefit on wearing of a pearl. The rishis whilst researching kept giving different solutions and applications too and their research was not in isolation, they kept progressing with their research.

They did not research only in the fields of physics and chemistry, but also laid equal focus on the spiritual path. They then realized that in this universe there are two prime forces– fire and shom and the sun and the moon are symbolic of these two forces. They then came to know that the pearl, the mukta is the moon; it is symbolic of tranquility and gentleness and also of reducing and increasing. We know that the moon’s reduction and increase in size is from the shuklapaksha and pratipda till the full moon day when it keeps increasing in size and on poornima which is the full moon day when the moon is a complete circle. After which it again starts to decrease. Today we also know that this is due to the earth’s rotation, all this our rishis knew all along. Along with this now let us see the reduction and increase in the pearl.

For this we have to observe a natural pearl and not the ones which are produced artificially now a days and we also need for this observation absolutely acid and chemical free pure ganga water. Keep the pearl in such a way in the pure water that the moonlight at night directly falls on the pearl, we can then see that the glow in the pearl increases with the increasing size of the moon and after the full moon day as the reduction in the size of the moon begins the shine of the pearl starts reduces. You might argue saying that the above is true as the moon is bigger in size, its reflection will also be more and vice versa. This is not true, as I am not asking you to see the glow of the pearl during the night. You keep the pearl for atleast an hour in the moonlight and then see the same during the day, you will find that the glow of the pearl is proportionate to the size of the moon and the same pearl shines less during the day when the size of the moon is reducing. Thus it is definite that the pearl has some connection with the planetary position and qualities of the moon.

Along with the light of the moon, this talent also increased with spiritual contemplation and the sages realized that this rule is applicable to the entire universe or this is the law of the universe. The waxing and waning of the moon, the formation of pearls, sunrise, and sunset are all tied down to the laws of nature. This regulation is binding and obligatory. This was the supreme law! This was not a law of the Supreme Court; here no court can pass any judgement. The law that leads to the discovery of truth, the law that allows truth to reign, the law that helps those who are walking on the path of truth and good. This was called Vritta. It is called Rit in Hindi and Vritta in Sanskrit. They discovered that according to the Vritta, all the planets and stars in the universe are going about are performing their activities. Plants that are also living beings grow because of this law. Thus how can a human being be an exception to it? It was impossible! With this study they realized that a man should base his entire life only on the principles of this supreme cosmic law.

Please note that the pearl is such an object that is formed only after the compliance of this entire cycle of Vritta. They arrived at this conclusion only after a deep study of life sciences and then based on this realization and insight they placed a necklace of pearls around God’s neck and started the practice of offering it at His feet. Thus we all know that in India a necklace of pearls is preferred to a necklace of gold or silver when it is presented as an offering. The kings also always offered pearl necklaces and put pearls on their doorways. This is because a pearl is the only such element in the world that is created after it has completed all the rules of Vritta, it would not have been formed otherwise. There is also a fable given to tell us the importance of the pearl. How is the observation of the Vritta discipline done while a pearl is being created? Bhagwan Agasti narrates this tale. The very first sage of Bharat, He is our ultimate father, this is the story of that Agasti Rishi.

Agasti sage’s wife was Lopamudra, who was a royal princess but had self willingly done bhakti to become the wife of the great sage Agasti. She was a very great and pious woman and an ideal wife. One day a king and his chief queen came to meet the rishi and his wife Lopamudra. The chief queen was wearing a beautiful pearl ring on one of her fingers. When Lopamudra saw the ring she was reminded of all the beautiful pearls and other ornaments she had possessed. Just then Agasti muni who was aware of all that was happening asked her, “Lopa what are you thinking of? I think your mind is becoming desirous of a pearl. Lopa replied, “It is not desire or want but just memory of my pearl rings which is haunting me”. Agasti muni then told her to get rid of this memory immediately or else this would then soon convert into an intense desire. He continued by advising her that, “You are a rishi’s wife and the mother of all my students. For you all the students whether rich or poor should be equal. It should not matter if one is the son of a king and the other of the lowest caste. If you are reminded of your royal status then you may not be able to treat all in the same manner, so you must immediately free yourself of this memory and the thought of the pearl itself”.

Lopa was after all a young woman though she was like a mother to all the students in the ashram. She was married only since 3 years and she could not refrain from thinking of all her jewels, especially the pearl rings. Even in her dreams she saw herself adorned with all her necklaces and pearl rings.

Agasti was aware of everything that was happening but he never said anything about this awareness. He knew that his wife was very able and strong, but right now was just undergoing the pangs of desire through the rise of memory of past events. He also knew that this was not right for his wife and would come in her way of spiritual growth.

In the morning he saw that Lopa’s eyes were red and swollen, as she had not slept well. On enquiring Lopa confessed to her husband that though he had asked her to get free of the desire of the pearl, the more she tried to do that the more the same thought chased her. She said that, “I also dreamt of the pearls”. What should I do my Lord?

This question is true of every human being. Whatever we want to give up stays all the more with us. Which ever vice or fault you try to give up, they keep increasing in us. This question is not only Lopmudra’s but is true for all of us. Whatever I want to do away with of, be free from, that very thing keeps appearing before me all the time.

How do I get rid of that and here the issue was even graver as the freedom was from mukta, from the pearl! Then Agasti muni advises Lopa that” if you really want to be free of the thought of the pearl, then you have to arouse another thought in your mind which will replace the original thought of the pearl. Lopa wonders what that other thought or object could be as dear to her as the thought of her favourite pearl. She then suddenly remembers her mother Sulakshana Devi who was the greatest for her. She loved her mother dearly and thought that what is a mere pearl compared to my mother, I can shower crores of pearls over my mother. She now constantly started thinking of her mother instead of the pearl and wondered how she was. She had not met her since the last 3 years since she had got married; it was only natural for a daughter to miss her mother.

Lopa freed herself from the entanglement of the pearl, but was now lost in her mother’s memory. She kept performing all her daily chores and duties but was mentally lost all the time. She lacked concentration in the service of her husband and the children. The children referred here are not her biological children but the 100-150 students who lived in the ashram with them.

One night she dreamt of her mother. She was in conversation with her mother in the dream and on arousing in the morning said to her husband that, “You freed me of the thought of the pearl but now I can’t seem to get over the memory of my mother.” Agasti muni said that there was only one cure for this, either go and visit your mother or call her over here for a few days. Lopa said, ”Going from here is not a good idea, who will look after all my children? Their parents have trusted us and left them here under our care. Let me call my mother over for a few days instead. A message is then sent to her mother through one of the young students. Maharani Sulakshana was a very virtuous wife. She led a very simple and disciplined life. On receiving the message she thinks that my daughter must be really missing me, that’s why Agasti muni has sent his best student to give me the message. Sulakshana immediately leaves for her daughter’s house and arrives there adorned from head to toe with her finest ornaments and the most expensive clothes. Lopa is very surprised, as she had never seen her mother wear so much jewellery; she had always seen her mother as a very simply dressed woman. Lopa wonders why her mother is dressed like that. To top it Sulakshana Devi keeps commenting on Lopa’s state and her clothes and the lack of luxuries in the ashram. Just imagine a mother was giving a complex to her own daughter. She asks her daughter don’t you own anything? Look at me I have so much. This is not a bad or mean mother speaking; in fact this is the best mother who is talking like this.

The daughter goes through this torture the entire day and then wonders at night that why did she call her mother in the first place? This is the same mother who has done my kanyadaan. She is very well aware of whom I have married and in what conditions I live. She knows that I do not have money or other riches, even then why is she taunting me? I was expecting some happiness and relief from my mother and am receiving misery instead. She could not sleep a wink that entire night.

In the morning Agasti muni asked, “What happened Lopa?” She replied”, Mother has come and tormented me and even at night has slept with all her ornaments on. Through the night I just kept admiring all the jewels that she has worn. Agasti enquired why did she do that? Lopa replied, “ I detest all those jewels, pearls that make a mother torment her own daughter, I abhor that wealth that makes a mother speak in such a manner with her child. A mother is making her own daughter a wayward. Agasti muni starts laughing. Mother Sulakshana just then enters from behind them. She says, my daughter, I am now very happy. Lopa sees that her mother is devoid of all her jewellery and finery and is now dressed like the simple mother that Lopa knew. Sulakshana hugs her daughter and says, “dear daughter our biggest jewel is our character, our peace of mind, our husband and sons. We have nothing to do with any other ornaments. The pearl that you speak about my child, let me tell you a secret today. My mother has given me a pearl and I want to gift that to you. The value of this pearl is more that that of all the precious gems in the world put together. There is a special chest that has been made and the pearl has been kept in that. She also cautions her daughter that, “till you don’t desperately need the pearl, don’t open the chest. Never ever even see this pearl”. The glow of this pearl is very powerful. Now the daughter has the pearl, and that too the most expensive one. More importantly her mother has gifted it to her and that too with some true advise along with it. The mother’s message was that the biggest splendour is one’s calm, character, students, husband, and sons. Our love is the most appropriate grandeur. This is how a real loving and caring mother is.

Sulakshana then went to pay respect to Agasti before leaving the ashram. Agasti muni tells her that you by dharma are my mother and it is not right for you to do pranam to me. Sulakshana devi replies to this by saying that,” one you are my son-in-law and that demands respect and courtesy, it is my duty and secondly there is nobody greater or knowledgable than you, thus doing pranam to you is every human being’s duty and thirdly you have become my guru.

Lopa was not aware of her mother making her husband a guru, so she calls her aside and asks how and when did this event tak place. Sulakshana explains to her daughter that how she has now realized that she as a mother had an inflated ego where she prided herself on the perfect upbringing of her daughter and the kind of values she had instilled in her daughter as a mother. She continued confessing that I secretly was proud of the fact that due to this upbringing you have been able to give up your royal lifestyle and accept a rishi as your husband and that too with so much love and affection. Your desire for pearls went to prove that I have not been successful in making you devoid of all material desires. This great man knew this and he brought me here to make me aware of this fact and teach me a lesson that will help in getting rid of my ego. She further disclosed that when you were sleeping at night, I went to Agasti muni and paying respect to him enquired why my daughter was in this restless state. I have thus come so well adorned to learn from you how we should rid ourselves of all these material desires, how do we get rid of our ego?

Agasti muni explained to me that like the milk instinctively starts flowing from a mother’s breast as soon as an infant’s mouth touches it, similarly till I don’t look at God’s holy feet and tears of love don’t start flowing instinctively from my eyes, till then this ego does not leave us. When these tears start flowing our pride just oozes out of us with this flow. We can be free of our flaws only when we experience pure joy and that is expressed in the form of tears when we see our lord, or think of him, or hear about Him. And these real tears from our eyes said Agasti muni is the true valuable pearls that we must seek. Like the pearl is formed between the two parts of a shell, similarly our tears emerge from between the two lids, which are also shaped like the shell. Thus this pearl which man owns is the most valuable one. When the tears flow out of sadness, agony, self pity they are not converted into pearls, its only when the pain is of separation from your God, when the tears are of virah, only then they are moti, mukta and mautik. These pearls wash away all pain, ego, and evil. You derive immense strength from these true pearls. When you don’t wear these pearls and lovingly offer it at your God’s feet, then these tear drops which have been formed between the two petals of your eyes and are formed either due to immense love for God or tearing pain of separation from God become tears of joy (Anandashru) or tears arising from the pain of separation (Virahashru) and keep granting you energy and strength for your progress and well being.

While we offer our all at the Lord’s feet, let us also experience God’s Virah actively when we can’t see His form, can’t meet Him, forget to take His name. With these experiences the tears flow and only this will help us to get rid of all our vices.

Here we must observe what kind of a mother, daughter, husband, rishi, and son-in-law they were, how they performed their various roles. All of them were on the path of purity. This tale of the pearl you are hearing now, you must have heard it earlier in keertans and may have only picked up the message that it is pious to offer pearls at God’s feet, which is a good learning in itself. What is of great importance though from this tale is that the true pearls, which God wants us to offer at His feet, are tears of love for Him or tears that emerge when we experience separation from Him.

The true pearls formed from within us as we saw give us strength, Muktabal and mauktikbal. What strength is this? Which pearls does it come from? This comes only from Radha as she has the Muktabal in the maximum capacity. Who has not heard of Radha’s pain and longing for her God in the form of various hymns and verses. How she longed to have just a glimpse of her Lord’s big toe. She would be filled with ecstatic joy just hearing the faint music of his flute even from distant places or having just a hazy glimpse of Him. Being in the state that Radha was is not comparable to the relationship between a husband and wife; this is a state of complete surrender. The firm belief that there is nobody other than you my Lord, all the relationships and bonds that I have of husband, brother, sister, enemy, friend, children – they are all given by you and come only after you. They are all no where near you, if I were to count them then from the number 1-99 it is only you dearest God and only then does somebody else figure in my life. This strong feeling was truly felt by Radha and barring this state I wish to be in no other state. Even birth and death are not mine, only you are.

We obviously cannot reach this state of being overnight but we must allow ourselves to reach there gradually, this state is called the mukta avastha. Only a disciple who has totally surrendered to his Lord experiences this feeling. This bhakta does not even desire salvation. This disciple prays for birth after birth according to his God’s wishes and only prays that he is allowed to remember his God, take His name, love Him, and serve Him. Wherever I am - whether after birth, on earth or in between two births or in heaven, wherever I must always be with you. Pray to Him to allow you to dance with Him in Vrindavan, this kind of bhakti is called Samarpanottar dasya and Samarpanottar Sakhya.

The greatest leaders and examples of this kind of bhakti are Hanumanji and Bharat. Both of them are the protectors who grant this feeling of friendship with God and eagerness to serve God to all those who surrender truly and completely.

Who will not want to be thick friends with God? But this friendship has to be earned and deserved. For this you need complete surrender and only after that can you wish for His friendship. This happens when you rise above the physical state and emotions. This is got not by doing mere physical service, which is also beneficial, but to be so alert that not one word of His should slip from my mind or action, not one emotion of his should be unheard. Whatever I possess should be used only for His service, according to His words only. I must be ready for any kind of hardship, I should be ready to disconnect with my life but never ever disconnect the connection between my God and me. This is the feeling that Radha owns and she gifted it to Hanumanji and Bharat and this pure feeling is the Muktabal.

This feeling is always present in our minds in a seed form and all these five strengths reside even in the most sinful being, only that such a person will not have the ability to receive these or utilize these strengths, which for a person on the path of bhakti keeps increasing, the power to use these for self development is also activated. Let us now ponder a little over where does this Muktabal reside within us? How does this appear in our life?

Just imagine you are in a village, it is midnight, and you are in a cemetery near the outskirts of the village. There are two lit pyres in the cemetery and there is no other light, it is absolutely pitch dark. It is also a very stormy night with strong blowing winds, heavy showers and deafening thunder and lightening flashing across the dark sky. You are absolutely alone here and suddenly the trees start swaying very vigorously due to the cyclonic winds, the shadows of the tree too start moving, while you are wondering if these are human shadows you hear the whining barks of a stray dog – what do you do? Whom do you remember at a moment like this? Only that one – your true friend –your God. Even an atheist remembers God in times of difficulty. The only thing that wants to do in this situation is to run away from it. Even to escape, to flee, you need strength from God and this can be obtained by calling out to any of His forms, Ram, Baba, and Krishna. Whichever name you call Him by that name will give you the required strength and you will be able to use this gift to go ahead. But an atheist will not be able to do so and will just collapse there due to fear. A bhakt is allowed to use the strength which is granted to him, is allowed to remember the God who gave him this gift while he is running away from the scary scene. When he finally reaches the village and sees an elderly man sitting there, he heaves a deep sigh of relief and join his hands and say “Thank God”. We thus can see that we can free ourselves from any difficult situation by just taking God’s name.



Let’s observe what happens when you are walking and suddenly hurt yourself and experience sharp pain, one immediately utters the word “mother”, be it in any language from Spanish to Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, and Punjabi etc. Ponder over the fact that even a child who may have not seen his mother says the same spontaneously. This is because we have experienced since birth that our mother has the medicine to all our ailments and we never ever forget that throughout our lifetime. How do we then forget the Supreme Mother Radha? How do we then forget our God? Time and again via different experiences we are being given a message that it is only God who can deliver us from all our pains and difficult situations.

Let me cite another example here, Imagine yourself on any railway platform and a fast local train arrives and it is jam packed, you somehow manage to get in and as soon as you do that, you experience anxiety as you have to attend urgently to nature’s call, you have to immediately relieve your bowels. You can get off the train and to add to your misery it suddenly halts in the middle of nowhere for a couple of hours, you can very well imagine the agony that you would go through. Finally the train halts at your destination, you alight and running toward your home. What happens? As you near your place, you experience griping pains and find it increasingly difficult to now control yourself. Your mind registers the fact that you are nearing a place where you can relieve yourself and thus starts emitting strong signals to you. Remember any such a moment in your life that you must have surely experienced at some time or the other. When you are just relieving yourself and if even the most beautiful nymph comes and proposes to you, your immediate reaction will be negative and you will shun her and might address her as your mother or sister and ask her to come to tie you a rakhi on the full moon day.

The above example proves that it is important and necessary to excrete away the body waste. Radha also controls our body functions and gives us the knowledge of how important it is to throw out all that is not needed or is waste in the body and that too at the appropriate time and till we don’t do this we are not able to receive even the best that is offered to us, be it a beautiful nymph or a food delicacy of shrikhand puri.

Radhaji also teaches us that as the moment of discarding the dirt approaches our intensity to do so also increases. The eagerness to relieve oneself is weak when one is further away from the place where the action of relieving can be performed. From this we can thus infer that if we want to rid ourselves of our dirt, like the fasces, which is the waste of the body, then we must have the intense urge to do so and the Mahapran grants this. The Mahapran is above all the other five prans that we know of. There is one pran who is there to help us get rid of our wastes and that is Hanuman and presiding over him is Janaki mata, the Mahpragya, only with whose help you can do giving up of all your dirt and there is no other solution to this process.

People who suffer from constipation know the agony of not being able to discard bodily wastes on time and thus it is imperative to remove your mental dirt too as soon as necessary is the process set by the Supreme mother. Like if I eat today I have to excrete soon and not after a few days, if I have water today, I need to urinate today and not decide to do the same after four days. If I breathe in today, I cannot breathe out the next day. All these processes, which our supreme mother conducts in the form of kundalini, have to be followed precisely. You can call her Jagdamba, Radha, Uma,Janakimata, Siya, Gurukripa, call her by any name you please but it is only She who runs this entire system. She gives us this message that whatever you have taken in today, atleast excrete the waste within 24 hours, if you have had water remove it in a few hours and let your breath out immediately after inhaling it in, they have adverse effects if kept in the body for longer than necessary durations. Even when we take strong medicines and they accumulate in the system it leads to side effects like sometimes kidney or liver dysfunction. Even thought it is the intake of a medicine that we are talking of, something which is prescribed to heal, if it does not leave the system in the desired time frame its excess accumulation converts it to act like a poison for us. Thus Radha is constantly teaching us through different examples as to how it is imperative to relieve oneself of all wastes in the body, this is the most important step for our well-being. We do not need any other motivation to follow this discipline but just an intense urge like the one we saw earlier in the incident of a person wanting to relieve himself.

It is only this urge that should be the motive to remove all the dirt from our mind and who else but Radhaji is going to give us the required help and support. The pearl dust has the power to cure all problems arising due to the non-excretion of wastes from the human system. Like I had said all these natural elements have their individual properties, so does the pearl dust, but do not start experimenting by consuming this for common ailments like constipation etc. These are very strong drugs and only a medical practitioner will know and recommend the usage of these.

Like the Muktabal has the ability to rid my body of all its waste products and give it the strength to heal and grow, I need to know what will aid me to get rid of my mental waste, which is also my karmic burden. I need to own tears of separation (virahashru) and tears of joy (anandashru) to get rid of my mental wastes. It might take me some time to be in a state where I experience tears of Joy on seeing my God, but surely it is easier to experience the agony of separation form God. It is not important to have tears rolling down the cheeks, what is important is that the pangs of separation be felt strongly; we are addressing not only real tears here but also the emotional internal tears. When my heart longs to see Him and keeps counting each second, now its seven days since I saw Him, or three days or three hours and I have not seen Him, its then when you are creating virahashru, its your intense feeling of now at last I am going to see Him is what creates the pearl in between your eye lids. This is a not madness dear friend, this is true love for God.

When people write the Ramnaan book, they keep doing so day and night. I spoke to a few of them and so did Dada, all had similar experiences to share that when one sits to write even a single page one feels like writing another, yet another and so on, it is very difficult to stop writing the book. If one cannot write for some reason even for a day, that day seems incomplete. Somebody wrote a letter that he was woken up in the middle of the night by an unseen entity with a tap on his head and reminded to write the Ramnaam book. This is virah. Why does this happen because this bhakta has Virah. We must have this very Virah, this I repeat again is not insanity, and in fact it is the cure for it.

This definitely does not mean that you give up all your work and all other responsibilities and just write the Ramnaam book. It also does not mean that you ignore your duties and spend your entire time in just remembering God. Every possible moment while fulfilling our duties and daily routine one can keep remembering God, taking His name, thinking of Him with love, thanking Him is very important. If we see God’s photograph and treat it like one then it is absolutely incorrect. We should carry the firm belief that this is not just a photograph of my God but this is He. Only with this kind of a firm faith can you be relieved of all the consequences of your actions. When people take the Padukas home and regard them as just Padukas then the burden of performing all the rites and rituals in the prescribed manner remains on their head and they get engrossed in doing only what is said to be right. The ones who invite the Padukas as inviting God himself are engrossed in serving Him as in person and then it does not matter if the proper sequence of some ritual is not followed as their total attention in just looking after and serving the God who has come to their home as a guest. This emotion is exhibited in the manner in which the Padukas are held or felt. The feeling should not be that I am feeling or touching the Padukas but that I am actually caressing His holy feet.

In the Sundarkand it is seen that Vibhishan says only one sentence about Bharat when he is leaving to meet Ram. He says, “Jinha paaya ke padukani Bharat rahe mann laahi”.I am today going to meet the one, whose Padukas are the subject of Bharat’s contemplation. In a few moments I am going to see Bharat is serving the one who’s Padukas. Even though Ram is his own brother, but only His Padukas are in Bharat’s destiny. And here I am going today to see the one whose feet adorn those Padukas. Ram accepted Vibhishan as soon as He met him. Look at Vibhishan’s emotions. He is not condemning Bharat or his feelings. He is full of gratitude when he realizes that though Bharat is Ram’s own brother, even he had to be satisfied with only Ram’s Padukas for some time and look at me, I have been blessed with good fortune which allows me to actually see those holy feet, this was the only thought in Vibhishan’s mind when he crossed over the ocean to meet Ram. This feeling is of prime importance that His locket is not just a locket, His picture is not just a picture, this is the strong belief that must be embedded in our mind. Only this strong faith will help us overcome all our problems. I don’t have to worry about with which finger to apply fragrance to my God; he makes all the fingers. If you think that His photograph is just that, then you will have to follow all the prescribed rituals, but if when you see His photograph and experience the feeling that He is here and He is mine and He and only He and nobody else is mine then nothing else matters.

I will now narrate a small story here. I know it is 12.15 at night but I am enamoured and charmed by you all here. The story is about ‘Mai’, this is how I addressed my maternal grandmother’s mother. I spent my childhood and grew up in her house. She was very beautiful even in her senior years and had a very melodious voice. Every morning in a very peaceful manner she sang hymns written by Tukaram as she went about doing her daily household chores. She also read the Sai Satcharit and was always occupied.



Once a few of her distant relatives had come to stay over in our house, they were about 5-6 of them. In those days we children also had to get up early in the morning before sunrise, it was not like today when children are allowed to sleep late- sometimes eight, nine or even 10 am. We children were expected to rise early and finish our bathing rituals too as soon as we got up. All the children including the ones who were guests in our house were playing together in the courtyard of the house. Mai was very disciplined had a lot of rules in the house especially about touching and not touching certain things, but we all followed her do’s and don’ts not out of fear but love and respect for her. Also that her discipline and rules did not cause any discomfort to anybody. She did not eat or cook onions and garlic in the house, she did not mind us eating it outside the house, and in fact she would not have objected even if we ate it in the house. But all of did not do so because we did not want to give her any trouble, if she does not wish, then let us not cook the same in the house. One morning while the guests were there, Mai was going around the tulsi planter and silently singing Tukaram’s hymns. I noticed that on that day Mai was not as engrossed in the singing as she normally used to be everyday, something seemed to be troubling her. I asked her where her thoughts were and she said, yes Bapuraya, that is how she always addressed me, today my heart is not in the hymns but elsewhere. When I asked her what happened? She said that the little boy who is visiting our house is not well and his treatment compulsorily requires daily consumption of an egg. He is a little child who has to stay in the house and there is no other woman in the house right now as my maternal grandmother was also away in Pune. The other guests were three men. I do not cook non-vegetarian food in my kitchen, can’t tell anybody else, and can’t send the child away even though they were very distantly related just for namesake. I cannot even get the food from outside as the child is bed ridden and the outside food will not be good for his health and the doctor insists that the child must have an egg daily. So I am wondering what to do.

I suggested that ask the child’s father to cook the egg outside the house and then feed the child, she did not agree to this as she strongly felt that it was not proper to treat a guest in that manner. She further explained that all guest should be served with respect and it is our good fortune that we get an opportunity to do so. Suddenly after a couple of hours I see Mai singing the same hymn in her normal happy manner as I used to see everyday. She was back to her normal self. I asked What Mai, question solved? Mai said, yes! I asked what did you do? And she pointed out to some eggshells lying around. She said that, “I went to a shop and bought some eggs myself, boiled hem and fed the little child the same with my own hands”. After that I had a bath and resolved not to eat my lunch as a penance for using eggs and I will follow this till I am cooking eggs and feeding the child. Mai as it is did not eat dinner and now giving up lunch concerned all of us very much. How would she go on without eating both the meals? I told Mai just cook the egg but let somebody else feed the child, she said that she had to feed the child as he was only 2 ½ years old and as his mother was expecting she too was not here. A little child needs to be fed lovingly by a mother figure and all the more in his illness so she had to continue feeding the child herself. She said, “ Bapuraya, you don’t worry, nothing will happen to me”.

Suddenly at 2 in the afternoon on that very day, my maternal aunt Leelaji came home from Lucknow where her husband had been transferred. I exclaimed loudly, “Now mami has come, so Mai will be able to eat her lunch, now you make the eggs”. She was very surprised and was wondering what the egg story was. I quickly narrated the entire episode to her in front of Mai. When I turned and saw Mai I was shocked to see that Mai who always came forward to welcome her daughter –in –law was today standing in corner and weeping, tears just streamed down her cheeks. I asked what happened? And she quietly replied, “nothing” I sensed the situation and quietly slipped away from there leaving both of them alone to themselves.

Leelaji enquired, “Mother why are you crying? Have I done something wrong? Mai said, “No my daughter I am crying because see this Vithal of mine, I can bear my hunger but he cannot bear it, so He has sent you here to relieve me. Its not even two hours and He has called you. His miracles are incomparable. These tears are emerging from my eyes just realizing how much God takes care of His bhaktas. I made such a little sacrifice and in return my God has in two hours, just in two hours sent you here. How come you are here? Leelaji said that she was not scheduled to come to our house but was on her way to Pune to meet her mother. The ST bus by which we were travelling suddenly stopped working and we had to get down at Kalyan. We then decided to finish our scheduled work first and then later proceed to Pune to meet my mother. That’s how I am here.

The people in the house asked her how did she manage to reach the house all alone from Kalyan as in those days it was not common for women to travel alone and also that she was carrying a lot of luggage with her. She replied, “I have not come alone, I have been accompanied by the man you had sent to receive me”. Mai said”, How could I have sent somebody? I didn’t even know you were coming to Kalyan. My aunt narrated that when they were standing outside Kalyan station for a couple of hours a man came to receive them saying that Mai had sent him. Mai asked how did he look? Leelaji said that he was an ordinary looking man, who even carried all my five bags and dropped me right here till the doorstep.

Mai understood all that was to be understood. Mai said that when I was not remembering Him here, when I was busy thinking about the eggs and wondering how to get out of this situation that had come upon me, though I was singing Tukaram’s hymns and going around the holy Tulsi my mind and thoughts were elsewhere, they were not in the memory of my God. But even then my Vithal did not forget me, this is truly Vithal’s holy feet and this is his unlimited grace. Even though we forget Him, but He never ever forgets us.

But the truth here is that Mai had not forgotten Vithal even for a moment in the entire incident related above. She was serving one of his forms, his most pious form - the child form which had appeared as a 21/2-year-old ailing guest. For this child she was ready to bend her own rules, give up her religious beliefs, and change her entire way of thinking. She had flung everything into the river and had actually freed herself from ritualistic duties and responsibilities and immersed herself in the true love and service of her God. She became a mother for that child and was determined to look after him even if it meant that she would have to suffer or carry some sin. She saw only the child’s health and need for a mother figure as her duty at that point of time. This is being free, and how did she get this strength to be free? This came from the tears that were flowing from Mai’s eyes. She cried realizing the fact that Leelaji was sent there by her God just for her. She was overwhelmed with the feeling how much her beloved kept doing for her. God does everything for us and does all that is also appropriate for us.

I truly tell you that God is ready to do everything for you, but you need to be aware of the fact, that you are continuously receiving this Muktabal from Him. Whatever comes between you and your God, have the intense desire to get rid of that obstacle. You may want to overcome your vices, but what is important to fulfill that wish is the knowledge that for achieving that wish you have to free yourself of whatever comes between you and your God. This Muktabal, Radhaji will constantly provide Mautikbal to you.

Here on every Thursday evening the environment is encompassed with the consciousness of bhakti…. melodious songs filled with the bhakti vibrate in all the directions…. minds delighted with the fragrance of the pure incense…. the entire atmosphere is besieged in the emotion of bhakti…. Crowds in lakhs…. in spite of that complete discipline is followed…. All over Hari Om Hari Om is being called out…. Who are these people?…. For what reason have they gathered here?…. What is happening here?…. Many such questions arise in the mind of a person who is seeing all this for the first time.

This scene has become a very familiar one for those who live close by. But this is a very astonishing sight for a stranger in this area.

Thousands of devotees gather here to benefit from the Marathi and Hindi discourses of Sadguru Shri Aniruddha Bapu. Sadguru’s first discourse in Marathi is at 7.30 in the evening and the second one in Hindi starts after that. From the afternoon itself, the devotees start assembling in long queues outside the discourse site and many of them write the Ramnaam notebooks whilst waiting there. After the school gets over, the devotees are allowed to enter the external ground where a stage is set up and decorated for Bapu’s discourse. Very soon that ground, the two halls of the school and many classrooms too are filled to their capacity with devotees. A big screen is also arranged in the ground opposite the school to enable the devotees to enjoy Bapu’s discourse without any discomfort. All the open spaces around the school also are soon filled and tightly packed with loving devotees. Now all are just waiting to have a glimpse of their dearest beloved Sadguru Bapuji.

The invigorating fragrance of the purifying incense fills the air all around with pleasure. To add to this the auspicious devotional songs being played create an aura of intense bhakti. Here each person greets one another by saying “Hari Om”, that’s how from all the four sides there is the proclamation of “Hari Om”. All the volunteers are engrossed in their duties. Around 7 p.m the welcome ceremony of the “ Granthraj Shrimadpurushartha” written by Sadguru Shri Aniruddhaji is initiated by the musical and opportune sounds of the bugle. Then with immense respect the devotees carry the Granthraj from the entrance to the dais in a palanquin and place the same in the “Meghdambari” set there.

All around one can see very disciplined volunteers. On both the sides of the path that goes from the entrance to the dais, one will find devotees standing with arati and flower plates in their hands to shower flowers and do the observe the welcome ceremonial. There are two official escorts as well as two people with bugles at the main gate. All are now ready and just waiting eagerly for Shri Aniruddhaji to arrive.

Just then Sadguruji’s car arrives and on seeing the same, the message “ Bapu has arrived, Bapu has arrived” starts circulating. Sadguruji’s car halts at the main gate and each one tries their best to get just a glimpse of Him.


When we hear the word “Sadguru”, our mind imagines a picture of somebody donned with saffron clothes, a big mark on the forehead, a lot of bead necklaces around the neck and long matted hair on the head. But on seeing Bapu, his refreshing uniqueness immediately appeals to the heart. Sadguru and wearing a shirt and pant? Yes! Sadguru Aniruddhaji’s lifestyle is in keeping with the present times. Bapu who wears a black pant and a white shirt is a family man, a practicing doctor, who has graduated from the Mumbai University with a degree in M.D (medicine). Even though he has household duties, His intense personal desire and claim is “ I will fill this entire world with happiness and joy”. “ I am your friend” and it is only in this role that Bapu has a dialogue with all his devotees on every Thursday.





Seeing Shri Aniruddhaji alight from His car is like seeing an emperor get off his chariot. As soon as Bapuji is seen, all greet Him enthusiastically with “Bapuji Hari Om, Bapuji Hari Om” from all the corners. Along with Bapuji - Pujya Nandamai, Pujya Suchit Dada, Pujya Pipadada, and Pujya Sameer Dada are also welcomed. At the same time all the devotees sway to the tunes of the famous abhang “ Ala re, Hari, Ala re” written by saint Dnyaneswarji. Bapu proceeds very slowly from the main gate to the dais accepting the arati and the showering of the flowers from the devotees standing on both sides of the path as well as acknowledging the love and greetings of all those who are seated on both sides of the path he walks on. People are enchanted by the royal stride of the “ Rajadhiraj Maharaj Aniruddhaji”. As soon as Bapu arrives, the environment is filled with the sounds of the bugle, conch shell, and bells. “Let Bapu see me only once”, “ Bapu please smile at me”, “atleast once let me see Bapu from very close”, with these intense desires in their minds, each devotee keeps gazing at Bapu with love overflowing in their hearts.



A few minutes after Bapuji’s welcome the Upasana begins. In this Upasana the jaaps of Shri Sainathji, Akkalkotji, and Shri Swami Samarthaji are chanted. Also the 11 promises of Shrisainathji, Panchmukh Hanumatkavach, and Ghorkashtodharan strotra are also recited. For the Upasana the “Shalingram”, “Trishul”and “Jaapmala” given by Saibaba to Hemadpant are also set on the stage. Bapuji had claimed all these articles from Hemadpant’s grandson Appa Dhabolkar and his wife Meena Vahini when He manifested Himself. Along with these sacred objects, the pictures of Shri Dattaguruji, Shri Sainathji and Shri Swami Samarthaji and the Vishnupaad are also present on the stage. On one side of the stage is the “Meghdambri” where the Shrimadpurushartha rests and on the other side is a huge photograph of Shri Hanumanji. The flag of the organization is also hoisted on both the sides of the platform.


As soon as the upasana gets over, the recitation begins. Every Thursday Vedic Strotras like the “Purushsukta”, “Rudradhyay”, “Narayansukta”, “Suparnasukta”, “Venkatesh Mangalshasanam” are recited in rotation. At this time even the consecration of the small statue of Dattaguruji is performed. When the recitation begins the “Aniruddha Agnihotra” is also lit up, in which till the second discourse of Bapuji, the devotees make a holy offering out of free will.

Now starts the first discourse in Bapuji’s melodious voice. In this Marathi discourse Bapuji explains one by one the different aspects of the “Shri Ramraksha Strotra”. No discourse of Bapu contains difficult vocabulary or hard to understand spiritual concepts. Bapu converses in an easy flowing manner and in a simple easy to follow language that even an illiterate can understand and apply in his life. Bapu explains the toughest concepts by giving examples from every day life situations, making it extremely simple to follow. Every devotee gets the feeling that this discourse is talking about my life and is meant for me only.

Everybody finds something or the other in the discourse. Each one finds some answer to the questions arising in their lives through the discourse. In this way Bapu shows us the way to progress spiritually and reach God even while leading the life of a householder. This guidance comes to us through the discourse. To achieve the highest aim of human birth i.e to attain God, I now do not have to leave my family and go and wander in the forests. How I can balance both and that too in this lifetime itself is what Bapu guides through His pure and holy words on every Thursday. His endearing voice echoes in the ears for a long time even after the discourse. The first discourse ends with the singing of the prayer “Om Sai, Shri Sai, Jai Jai Sairam”.





Now the devotees are waiting eagerly to get Bapu’s blessings. Foremost along with Pujya Pipadada, Pujya Sameerdada, the volunteers chant “Nandaramna Aniruddha Aniruddha”. After this they do bow in front of Bapu by lying down completely and then the Darshan begins. While the queues are moving to take Bapu’s blessings, the Hanumanchalisa, Naam gajjar, Aniruddha chalisa, and the Hanumannashtak are recited. At this time the devotees can even go around Bapuji’s dais and bow down to Him. At the time of getting Bapu’s blessings, the people are overwhelmed with deep emotions. There is complete discipline when the crowds move ahead in a line saying “Hari Om Bapu”. Nobody really wants to move away from front of Bapu when they get to see Him. While taking darshan some burst into tears, for some tears overflow from the eyes, some say “thanks” and some are just filled with joy and happiness. Each one experiences pure joy at this time. Devotees come with infants seeking Bapu’s blessings and pray to Bapu to bless their little ones.

. Some who are waiting in the line are either chanting Bapu’s name, a strotra or are writing in the Ramnaam notebook. All over the discourse ground, there are stalls in different places exhibiting the various activities of the organization. These cover Bapu’s 13 point program, the Annapoorna yojna, Aniruddha bank for the blind, aniruddha bank of Ramnaam, the Saisacharit panchsheel exams, Shrimad Purushartha granth, udi and other counters like lost and found. All the volunteers willingly participate to organize the cleanliness of the place where the discourse is held. Even highly educated volunteers participate whole-heartedly and humbly in the cleanliness work and at the footwear counters. They do not let their social status come in the way while performing their duties.

Each devotee with the heart overflowing and brimming with Sadguru’s love, turns homewards with just one hope and longing, to see Him again next Thursday…

आराम: कल्पवृक्षाणां ....

HARI OM

The number of people completing one hundred and fifty Ramnaam books is rising steeply. Those who are lagging behind should not consider themselves as tortoises but should remember that they too have the limbs of the hare except that their speed is that of a tortoise. They should note this difference. Hari Om !

"आराम: कल्पवृक्षाणां विराम: सकलापदाम |
अभिरामस्त्रिलोकानां राम: श्रीमान् स न: प्रभु:।।''

Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam viraamaa sakalaampadaam |
Abhiraamaastri-lokaanaam Ram Shrimaan sa na Prabhu || ”

Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’; truly, just as I told you the last time, in the upcoming verses of Ram-Rakshaa; Sage Budhkaushik clearly unfolds everything to us. ‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’. Kalpavruksha (wishing tree) means such a tree which fulfils any desire that is wished for, as soon as it is wished while sitting underneath the shade of this particular tree. Every mortal desires to own such a Kalpavruksha. Every being wants such a Kalpavruksha. Moreover, it does not matter to him even if he does not find such a tree but he feels that his fantasies, desires should be accomplished as per his imaginations. Hence, every being is somehow always in search of some Kalpavruksha or the other to get benefited by way of a Kalpavruksha.

We have heard the abhanga Naaraliche zaadaakhaali…” (Beneath the coconut tree…). Coconut tree is a Kalpavruksha. “…Baisataa niwaant(…sitting leisurely) - Truly speaking everyone is actually sitting beneath the Kalpavruksha. Now, this is the Kalpavruksha that every being has propagated in his own life with his own imagination, for implementing his own ideology to enjoy the fruits of his own ideas. Every being sits leisurely underneath the Kalpavruksha that he nurtured with his own imagination, for his own ideology and for obtaining its fruit. Fantasy; we keep fantasizing since childhood. Why are we apprehensive while accepting a new thing or while rejecting the old thing? We just keep imagining. We often hear an adage in Marathi, “Pudhachyaas thech maagachaa shahaanaa” (One avoids stumbling by seeing others stumble; meaning, a wise person learns from others’ experiences); this saying is ignored totally. We do not become wise from others’ experiences; at the same time we do not learn from the experiences we have had in the past. This is because, after the initial hindrance, the damage soon gets concealed behind the forgetfulness and we are prepared to get more jolts one after the other. However, there may be a few who give up their efforts due to the injury; ‘Goodness!’ Now I cannot sustain; this is an indication that now I should not venture again; I should remain dormant!’ This should never be the attitude. But what promotes this attitude? Through the belief that I was walking and I stumbled. What if I stumble again? This means there is always a play of imagination of the positive and the negative. We begin imagining things even much before actually appearing for the exam; ‘That I have stood first in the Board exams, people have come to felicitate me, my children and my brothers whosoever they are.’ As the exam approaches, the extent of imagination goes on increasing. ‘Will the paper be such? Or such? Will these questions come in the paper? I am answering all the questions that I have studied without pausing; there is no question out of the syllabus that I had prepared for.’ The next moment, ‘Goodness me; all those questions that I remember only have been asked.’ ‘I have secured these many marks and I shall pass; or I shall fail.’ The entire energy that is being utilized in this imagination is futile because nothing can be derived out of it.

Imagination is a good thing. It’s not wrong to imagine. But in what way? That depends upon how we utilize it. When we use the ability to imagine for deciding the fruits of our actions, it becomes our enemy. Our imagination becomes our enemy when we predefine the results of our actions without doing anything at all or when we utilize our imagination for our own self for gaining the fruits. However, when our imagination is based on truth, reality and deep study just as the scientists who saw birds flying in the sky and thought to themselves, ‘could man fly some day?' Then they caught a bird, dissected it and studied the internal structure whereupon they realized that there are air sacs on either side of its lungs which enable the birds to fly because it reduces the body weight and the wings facilitate its flight. This study led to an analysis whether such a situation could be attained in human beings. No it cannot be. Then can wings be attached to human beings? Just mere attachment of wings would not be sufficient. Then what the scientists did was to make huge air balloons akin to the air sacs within the bird’s body. Those we call as hot air balloons. These huge balloons were attached with a huge casket below which could carry human beings up in the air. This means, here a human being strove hard taking into consideration reality and truth which led to the discovery of aeroplanes and thereby man could fly at a much higher altitude and with much faster speed as compared to the birds. However, when man only imagined that ‘I will beget wings through acquisition of some magic, or Siddhi (charisma) and I will fly in the sky,’ no man in India or rest of the world succeeded in discovering the aeroplanes because that was a futile imagination; an utterly faulty one. This did not lead to any progress. But when he studied the reality and accepted it as a human being would, that ‘These are my limitations and if I want to fly like birds then what is it that I should imbibe?’ Thinking thus he strove hard to gain success. We used to write an essay in school, ‘If I could fly!’ This is all right; it is good in a way for enhancing imagination but cannot be put into practice.

Some where its time for a newlywed bride to add to the family, the mother-in-law has certain notions about ‘How my daughter-in-law should be. She should be obedient in every way, must pamper me with her service, how much ever I scold her, she should not retort, she should be able to pass every test that I put her through, she should shoulder all my responsibilities, she should massage my feet, and nod to every yes and no of mine. That’s all!’ What does this mean? All that the mother-in-law requires is a puppet in her hands. She requires a robot that will execute every order of hers as per her commands.

Whereas, what does the daughter-in-law want her mother-in-law to be like? As per her imagination – ‘The old lady should quietly chant the Ramnaam and sit in a corner without coming in my way. It’s as simple as that! She should not suggest or impart any wisdom to me. I will behave as I want; she should not object to that. And she should forget that this groom of mine is her son too!’ Such is her expectation, that she should forget the son she painstakingly raised for 25-26 years. And the mother-in-law expects that the daughter-in-law should forget that she has married her son to spend an entire lifetime with him and expects her to think that she has married the mother-in-law instead.

The groom expects his wife to be pristine, ‘Who does not take any decision without his consent and listens to him alone. She should be beautiful, so that people know how beautiful my wife is. At the same time, she should not look elsewhere. Even if she does, he’ll ask ‘who were you looking at?’ Remember, men too are envious just as women; only that they do not have contenders! However, a man cannot even bear to imagine his wife looking at someone else and even if she does so by mistake, he fumes with envy. Moreover, ‘She should have a virtuous demeanor along with a modern look so that while moving about in the society we can boast that we are modern. Apart from this, she should carry out all the household chores adroitly. She should also be willing to go for outings whenever asked for and be ever ready for anything else. Everything should be literally tailor-made, just as I want it to be.’ Means, here there is no mother-in-law and daughter-in-law or husband-wife relationship. At every juncture how should the boss be? He should be lenient, should not bother even if we are not punctual at work or roam around ignoring work, and be granted leave whenever asked for and will cater only to all our pleasures.

What does the boss expect of the employees? ‘A task worth forty Rupees should be done in thirty, should work for ten hours instead of eight, and on top of it, if I scold him he will listen quietly.’ Hence, if we take into consideration any relationship, we realize that we tend to fit in everything or the person before us in a particular idea that we have in our minds. And when that person or the incident does not fit in as anticipated, a man becomes unhappy, angry and furious. Thus we realize that when there is a discrepancy between two things, two people, two incidents, the main reason behind it is the imagination minus the reality.

Suppose, there is a vegetable vendor and a milk vendor, rather a fruit vendor. The fruit vendor goes to the vegetable vendor and enquires, ‘what is the cost of the vegetables?’ He says, ‘a hundred rupees per Kg.’ Then this fellow bargains, ‘sixty is okay, it’s available for forty over there.’ Then after much negotiation he agrees at eighty. Then what will happen if the vegetable vendor goes to the same fruit vendor to buy fruits? Now there is a role reversal. The seller is now the buyer and the buyer is the seller. Again the dialogue is the same but the direction is different. This means, the two people are same but their relativity changes. This results in a conflict. Thus, if the conflict takes a different course and at different intervals, then they have a different direction altogether. When the giver is the taker and the taker is the giver, what is expected here? Here, there is no difference whether it is a vegetable vendor, fruit vendor, milkman or a goldsmith. This is a matter of views between the seller and the buyer. The seller wants to sell his things at maximum price whereas the buyer wants to acquire it at a minimum price. This is a human transaction. But this is why there is less relation with the reality and such people get cheated. See, the people who were cheated in scams such as Sheregar etc. and other thousand schemes, why did they get cheated? It is because they were engrossed in fantasies and imaginations and deplored the path of reality. They were told ‘one thousand rupees will grow into two thousand rupees within three months and two thousand into four thousand.’ First one or two installments are received regularly thereafter, when one or two millions are deposited, nothing is procured. Why did this happen? Because the reality was denied. We should first understand that that what is impossible is made possible only with God’s intervention. Man alone cannot achieve it. We have certain affinity and greed which leads us to imagining things and we tend to believe that what is unreal. And when we get cheated we say to God, ‘God what have You done?’ Did God hold your hand and say ‘invest your money here!’ God has not given intellect to you alone but to everyone. The person who knows which thing is edible and which is not; definitely understands everything. However, since we harbour greed, we tend to daydream like a certain Sheikh Mohammad about converting ten million bucks into twenty; and twenty into forty. ‘I shall do this and I shall do that’ attitude which eventually leads to nothing and we end up sitting in the house, groaning. Why do we end up in this situation? Because we stray away from reality and wander after greed, lust and Shadripu (six foes of mankind) with the help of our imagination. Hence, we realize that this Kalpavruksha of our life has proliferated to a great extent because remember the reason behind it dear folks! What I have told you. There are three states of mind, three conditions, three parts, three displays; or whatever you may call it. One is the outer mind, one is the inner mind and one is the Vivek (discretion). The outer mind is Brahmadev (Lord Brahma) Himself, an aunsh (fraction) of Brahmadev. Vivek is the aunsh of Vishnu while inner mind is Bholanath. He is Bholaa (naïve). He is an aunsh of Lord Shiva. And how is He? He is Mahaa-Dev (great God). He is enormous. As a particular thing enters our inner mind through our outer mind, again and again and yet again, that thing eventually becomes as enormous as the inner mind.

See, for instance, you begin reading Ram Raksha for the first time. Even ten words take a long time to be read. Even if we decide to try reading this small little Ram Raksha completely, it takes about twenty to twenty-five minutes. Then gradually we by-heart it and after learning by-heart we just recite it; we are not attentive. Our attention wavers somewhere else. But the Ram Raksha continues. This is because Ram Raksha becomes steady in our inner mind; but in that part of the mind, where it does not elaborate but becomes steady. Anything that enters the inner mind becomes enormous. The fear which when enters the inner mind through the outer mind becomes difficult to shed. Similarly, confidence too, if enters the inner mind, becomes extensive and augments furthermore. The one who does not succeed in the inner mind does not succeed in the outer world. One who lacks peace within does not attain peace in the outer world. One who does not experience joy within, cannot derive joy from the outer world. Remember this first of all! Because all that happens in the outer world is palpable symbolic representation of the incidents happening within your mind. It’s the outer mind that imagines. What is the job of the outer mind? To see all that happens and try to comprehend it with the help of the intellect and contemplate over what is required and what is not. Similarly, thinking about what is desired, what is not, what to see and what not to see, what to hear and what not to hear is decided by the outer mind. However, the Vivek in both these is Vishnu. Imagination originated from Brahma- i.e. Brahmadev. We have been told several times by all the Sages that not to worship Brahmadev in the Kaliyug (era of sufferings). If at all one wishes to worship the Brahmadev, then only that Brahmadev who is seated in the lotus-naval of Lord Vishnu should be worshipped as he is connected to Lord Vishnu in that position. This means, Vivek is reality meaning truth. This means you can use the imagination that is pertaining to reality, truth and Vivek; you are not authorized to use the rest of the imagination. Perhaps, it is not meant for you. When you avail the benefit which is actually improper; this can cause harm. Here’s where ‘Sunderkand’ comes to our help.

When Ravana kicks Bibhishan; as told in Sunderkand, Bibhishan goes up to him and clearly warns him with, ‘Ravana, you are wrong. Return Seeta.’ But Ravana is delirious. He does not yield. Ravana kicks him and says, ‘Go, and prostrate before Ram and teach Him your prudence. Bibhishan goes flying and tells everyone, tells Ravana, “Ram satya sankalp Prabhu sabhaa kaalbas tori” i.e. ‘O’ Ravana, Ram satya sankalp Prabhu’ i.e. Ram is the only true resolve that takes the shape of reality. None other’s resolve can become reality. Hence, you who are imagining existence without Ram; without truth, is a Kaalbus i.e. one who enters the mouth of Kaal (time). I can see your entire court, your subsistence, your entire paraphernalia assemblage, your friends, your people and you entering the mouth of Kaal. This shows that satya sankalp means ‘all that God created when there was nothing in the world was based on the imagination. This means imagination is the prowess of God. Only His resolve becomes true. We are but human beings. We humans should admit that we can derive only momentary pleasure with the help of imagination. We can never attain true eternal joy, true happiness, true prosperity, true strength and true verve from it. However, God has prescribed us with study and observation which enable us to attain whatever we want. Samarth Ramdas has told us at several junctures, ‘Kelyaane hoat aahe re, aadhi kelechi paahije” (if you try doing only then will you succeed, hence do it first), “Yadnya to Dev jaanaavaa, antari dharitaa bare” (remember, offering oblation to sacred fire is God); but who cares? We continue to imagine things. While walking along the road you must have observed people gesticulate. As if they are talking to someone. They are imagining things like ‘I will reply him this way and that way and then this will happen and that will happen.’ These people are not crazy. They are as wise as you are but so absorbed in their imagination that they stray away from the reality. And as said by Bibhishan, Ram is one and only satya sankalp and hence every human being should carefully bear in mind that when there is a resolve in the mind, there arises a vikalp (antithesis) to it. Action and reaction are equal but opposite, i.e. the action and reaction always being opposite to each other and corresponding. Hence, when there arises a resolve of imagination in your mind the resultant vikalp is of the same magnitude which does not allow your resolve to become reality. Whereas, there is no such thing as an opposing vikalp for the resolve of Ram, because who else is as powerful as Ram? Who else has the power as much as God? Then call Him Ram, Krishna, or by any name you please! But there is no one who can challenge the power of the one who is God Almighty, the creator. Hence, no one can contradict His resolve; even if the entire world comes together and creates vikalp against God’s resolve, still their vikalp will be much smaller than God’s resolve. Hence, we should realize that ultimately in whose direction will the resolve turn? Towards the direction of Ram i.e. in the direction of God. This is why every mortal should hold the Charan (divine feet) of Prabhu Ramchandra, Lord Krishna and Sainath and also adorn every word of theirs in the heart and instill His name in the mind and carry out the study and observation, thinking, implementing ideas and execution of the mission. And forego that part of imagination; resolve namely ‘What fruit I will or will not receive is upto God to decide.’ Finally, it will be as per God’s will He will decide it; I will not interfere with it.’ And this very thing has been told several times by Krishna in Gita too; ‘Nishkaam Karma-Yog’ (dispassionate deeds) as we call it. We are afraid of this term. Ram exemplified the same thing with His own demeanor. Bibhishan too conveyed the same just as Hanumant did. Several Saints like Dnyaneshwar, Tulsidas, Purandardas right upto Tukaram told the same thing. Still, these Kalpavrukshas of our minds do not cease to grow as they are Kalpanavruksha (imaginary tree). We regard them as Kalpavruksha but actually they are Kalpanavruksha. We must recognize the difference between the Kalpavruksha and the Kalpanavruksha. What seems to us as Kalpavruksha is in fact a Kalpanavruksha not Kalpavruksha because the word ‘Kal’; what does it mean in Sanskrit? It means to diminish i.e. to go on decreasing, to discontinue or to deteriorate. Hence it is Kaal (time or period). The term Kaal is comprised of the word ‘Kal’. ‘Kal’ also means Kalpa. The term Kalpana (illusion) is also made of ‘Kal’. The word Kalpa is made of Kal and Alpa; from the individual words Kal and Alpa, from their cohered existence not amalgamation or combination. Made from coming together i.e. momentary or short-lived phase. Lightning flashes in the sky and disappears. The lightning did emit light but will it be seen the next moment? No. For that I must hold some lantern in my hand or else a torch. Here, we will understand that Kalpa is one such thing that is momentary and how in turn is Kalpana? It merely is a representation of the momentary happening that seems to be temporarily real but is not. Hence, Kalpana is that what is momentary, short-lived, and temporary and that too we assume that it exists but does not actually exist. Therefore, Kalpa too is ephemeral.

See, four Kalpas have passed, ten Kalpas have passed, a hundred Kalpas have passed; passed means went by! Since they have already passed means they were ephemeral and how is the Kalpana as compared to it? It is also ephemeral but basically it is an ephemeral illusion. What's more, we keep looking for mirth in this illusion; we keep looking for joy in this Kalpavruksha. Hence, the true joy stays away from us forever. This is why Sage Budhakaushik tells us how this, “Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam” means this Kalpavruksha i.e. the ephemeral Jeevanvruksha (life tree) which is the “Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam” the Kalpavruksha of every mortal i.e. the Kalpanavruksha present within every mortal has the resolve of God over it. While giving birth to every mortal God bestows upon him the merits of the past two births and the sins of the past two births along with a resolve. Just as we say that God has ordained us with a fate that at four years of age this will happen, at seven years that will take place, at eight he will rape a woman or at nine he will steal; remember, God does not preordain any such thing. Whereas, what God ordains is His resolve that this person’s attitude in the past birth was such and such and his past sins are such; his past merits are such. Hence what should he do to enhance these merits? God gives him new birth with this resolve. After regaining new birth when we stick to God’s resolve, we attain bliss in life. Otherwise also remember, it is God’s resolve; so it will be accomplished; no one can come in its way. Instead when we oppose God’s resolve, it will still attain fruition as no one can hinder it but in turn we undergo sufferings. Because remember one simple thing – suppose there is a horse carriage and you are sitting in it; you have harnessed the horses at the rear end of the carriage; what will happen in that case? Suppose, you are now in a bullock cart and what would happen if you harness the bullocks at the rear end of the cart instead of the front end? Tell me what will happen? If you harness the bullocks on the opposite side they will pull you to the opposite direction but if tied properly, they will definitely poke you with their horns and make you fall. Right? Because when they begin to run, the cart in which you are seated; will lose equilibrium. We must take into consideration this simple fact. We lead our life similar to this. Because we think God has granted us the freedom and He does not come and reprimand us daily hence its okay and this will be allowed. And we see it go on like that. We behave as we want and do not see God admonishing us. Or we get to see few other people who behave as they want and still remain hale and hearty. We feel God does not exist and even if He exists; does not punish anyone; and that we have to face punishment after death. But we must understand it does not happen that way. We all want real joy, happiness, peace, contentment and prosperity in life. But we must be aware that the first thing we have to do is to discard our illusions. Will have to discard ‘I want this result, that consequence, I will get this benefit that advantage, I will do this then I will do that’ and tell God, “I will work hard, You provide me with the strength to work hard, give me the intellect and suggestions, spank me if I err, hit me but God keep me on Your path i.e. let my life proliferate as per Your resolve.” That very moment the true Kalpavruksha of God becomes activate. A part of your inner mind begins to become Chitta (soul). Because of God’s resolve and your bhakti towards God; a part of your inner mind gradually becomes Chitta. And this Chitta under the influence of the intellect and since one part of mind is in God’s hands; the part that goes in God’s authority becomes Chitta. Everyone has this Chitta along with the human mind and God’s mind. That God’s mind is ‘Ramsatya sankalp Prabhu’ i.e. ‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’. ‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’ means an orchard of Kalpavruksha, a garden of Kalpavruksha. God’s mind that everyone possesses is actually a garden of such real sankalp-vrukshas; i.e. a garden of Ram’s own sankalp-vruksha. But when can we obtain fruits from it? Only when even a slightest of our inner mind gets converted into Chitta. Until our inner mind exists as inner mind and even a part of it has not yet converted into Chitta, we cannot taste the fruits of Ram’s resolve. We only continue tasting the fruits of our own actions which means we taste the fruits of flaws, sins or the merits of our good deeds. But how much ever great our merits be just consider how infinitesimal they are as compared to God’s one graceful gaze. A tale of Lord Indra prevails. We learn that He carried out 108 Ashwamedh Yadnya (auspicious rites). We know Sage Vishwamitra who meditated for one thousand and eight years or one million eight years. Inspite of accumulating such great merits they experienced a down-fall. They were admonished. They incurred a plethora of misfortune over themselves. They had to face misery. Whereas we also get to see the Saints who inspite of undergoing a life full of ordeals enjoyed a blissful life. Consider our Kings. They too were pious. They too were bhakta. Many people comment as to who does bhakti? Only cowardly and timid people. On hearing this; one tight slap should be administered and we should say, ‘O’ foolish one! Do not blurt like a senseless person. The most revered Gurugobindsingh Maharaj and his two sons aged five and seven did not yield in inspite of their burns and the bleeding nose-eyes and the torture meted out to them for a forceful change of religion. Were these children not brave? And are these people considering the bhaktas cowardly; brave by themselves. Who is brave? Only the bhaktas. Rana Pratap who struggled throughout his life in forest was an ardent bhakta of Lord Eklingji (Lord Shiva). Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj initiated his realm with merely sixteen soldiers. He fought wars; was accompanied by sixteen compliances of similar age called Mavlas. Later, he established his own Hindu Kingdom. He was an avid bhakta of Goddess Jagadamba and was always modestly devout at the Charan of Ramdas and Tukaram. Weren’t all of them brave? The queen of Zansi, Nanasaheb Peshve and Tatya Tope who witnessed the freedom struggle of 1857, participated in the first freedom struggle with a handful of people and all those who laid down their lives were ardent bhaktas of Lord Ganesha. Were they not brave? Vasudeo Balvant Fadke chanted God’s name until he breathed his last; was he not brave? Wasn’t Lokmanya Tilak brave? Mahatma Gandhi, who just wore a loin for clothing; had immense faith in Ram, he considered Ramnaam as the only power and denied wearing anything else even while going to meet the British queen. Was he a coward? Was Bhagatsinh a coward? He continuously chanted ‘Wahe Guru’ until he met his end. This is what we should realize! Those who try to contradict us by saying; only cowards are pious; only cowards need God, should be sternly told that out of the maximum courageous, brave and competent people born in the world, at least 99.95% were religious, pious and devout. They accomplished extraordinary feats. This is what we should understand. Dnyaneshwar was harassed by the people of his village. They pelted stones at him, starved him. Tell me does anyone know the names of all those? No, only Visoba Khechar is known why? Because though Visoba Khechar caused him agony; he submitted to Dnyaneshwar the moment he realized everything and took to the path of bhakti and later became the Guru of Namdev. The rest of the people who harassed Dnyaneshwar became extinct in the cavern of time as ‘Sabha kaalbas tori’. We should remember that only Visoba Khechar became immortal due to Dnyaneshwar, Dnyaneshwar’s mission, Dnyaneshwar’s grace and reached the position of a Guru because of Dnyaneshwar. In life, we do not achieve anything by merely chasing the illusions, logic and doubts. We must realize that collecting any amount of sand from the shore will not yield any pearls. We must also realize that even if anyone thinks that Goddess Lakshmi rose from the ocean and hence he will keep looking for Her in the ocean all his life; then he will succumb to death; rather than finding anything worthwhile. This is sheer grunginess, insanity and we must be assured that the religion never inspires us to do such a thing. Hence, it is our duty to execute our responsibilities, work harder, think study and observe but it is not our job to presume what reward we will get in return. The moment we shed this, and begin our work; that too with firm faith in God, that very instant the aunsh of Ram that is present within each one of us begins to convert a part of our inner mind into Chitta and then we get to taste the fruits of the real Sankalp-Vruksha; the fruits of Ram’s resolve. ‘Aaramaa’; one of the meanings of this word is an orchard where trees thrive, grow, blossom and bear fruits. Another meaning of aaraam is where everything is contented, peaceful, vivacious and speedy. Not just speedy but swift where there is no fatigue and no obstacle. We sometimes say ‘Let us rest a bit’ but here this aaraam is different. Here there is a situation where there is capacity of executing the responsibility, accomplishment of the responsibility and rest involved in it. Rest and responsibility are not diverse things. Reward and efforts are not dissimilar. What does this mean? Aaraam means such a place where sorrow, incompetence, ineptitude failure, defeat have no place.

‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’ is a place where such Kalpavrukshas are present. What are the Kalpavruksha of such a place like? Just as the place they grow in; and what is that place? It’s Ram. God is the only ‘place’ in the entire world where all the rival forces and the different kinds of merits and demerits dwell together with bliss. And only He can give us both the things. Humans always desire such contrasting things. For instance, a housewife thinks that her husband should earn plenty of money but how? Only between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. She does not approve of his long working hours saying ‘you are always ignoring me; what good is such money; and keeps brooding. Another woman whose husband does not earn says, ‘why do you eat my brain sitting in the house? Instead why don’t you go out and earn some money and deck me up with jewelry?’ In the end both are crying. Hence, we will realize that humans always want both the things. The wife wants the husband’s money and his time but she does not understand that it is not possible to get both. She understands but does not comprehend it. This is the case with every human; not only with the women folk. That is one’s condition is like the English maxim, ‘He wants to have the cake and eat it too.’ It’s like they want to hold the seed in hand and want to grow a tree without sowing the seed. How can this be? We should understand that this is not possible. Hence, when we humans want such opposite things, we cannot get them with our own efforts. ‘The Football World Cup is on and my exams are approaching. I want to study and watch the match too.’ How can both these be possible? Definitely not. ‘Studying is appropriate for me; I will not watch the match.’ This resolve is essential. How? By thinking of God and saying, ‘God, give me Your strength because my mind constantly thinks of watching the match.’ Truly, you have to overcome this. I cite my own case. My son Pouras secured 91% marks at ICSE tenth standard and 92.50 at the twelfth level. Because of the good score he readily got admission for the medical course. But he had resolved the day he entered the tenth standard; he did not just imagine but resolved that ‘today onwards I shall not play any video games or cricket.’ And really, he did not even glance at these even once since then. Why was he able to resolve this? This is because everyday before leaving the house, he chants God’s verse without which he does not even begin his day since his childhood. On entering the exam hall, before taking the question paper in hand he joins his hands in prayer and calmly before all the students, chants ‘Ghorkashtoddharan Stotra’ or the last five stanzas of Ram Raksha. He is not bewildered as to ‘what the other students may say’. The children of only top class people study in ICSE; all wealthy. Right? But still he does not hesitate. He calls his mother ‘Aai’ and father, ‘Baba’; does not say mummy or dad. He recites the ‘Ghorkashtoddharan Stotra’ before his exams and is not bashful about doing so. Moreover, he is not ashamed of applying the ‘Udi’ (sacred ash) on his forehead before stepping out. He never tells his mother, ‘Don’t apply Udi or apply in an invisible way.’ He does namaskar (obeisance) to his mother before going for exams. His mother applies Udi to him that he dons to the exam hall without saying, ‘Aai, what will the other children say? Apply here so that no one can see.’ He does not do that. And remember his mother too is very strict about this. However, every parent should become this strict to inculcate values in their children. When any new thing is brought in the house, his mother tells him or Shakambhari; our daughter to place that thing; be it a pair of new clothes or even a compass box, before the deity and apply Udi to it. Not to use it unless this is done. However hungry they are; they never skip reciting ‘Vadani kaval ghetaa…’ (A verse recited before meals as if offering oblation to God) either in Marathi or Sanskrit. Then even if he goes to a five star hotel for a party; he does not bother what other people may say while he recites the Shloka (verse) - ‘Annagrahan samaye smartavya naam Shrihare | Bhavati sahaj havanam anaayaasam hinaannaa | Jeevanam jiritejya anna hi poornabrahma | Naitar udarbharanam jaaniyaat Yadnya karma|’ (a Sanskrit version of the former verse) by joining his hands and only then does he begins his meals. He is not embarrassed. I am not saying this because he is my son; I have not instilled any values in him, but his mother has. Shakambhari too does that and I am proud to say so because I want you to become proud parents too! But for this, the mother has taken pains; ‘This must be said every time why to feel shy? If people mock at us let them. Why should we feel shy?’ Then be it in a five star hotel or while eating a simple snack like ‘vada-pav’ (Indian burger), he will not take a bite unless he has recited the verse. What is achieved because of this is that a variety of thoughts stop coming to his mind. By remembering God before the exam, he is sure that ‘No matter what the question is; it will come through the medium of the verse.' Even while studying he first utters, ‘Hari Om’ and then pays obeisance to God only then does he begin his study. This is a habit they have inculcated. This increases their concentration. This is a fact. Now Shakambhari has passed the tenth with ICSE. She secured 90% marks. Is this because Bapu has done some magic? No. Remember, it’s their own efforts along with a huge victual of values from their mother; that ‘Not to be bashful about doing this.’ Truly, we must convey this to our children. We should feel shy only to do wrong deeds. Why feel shy to apply God’s Udi while going out? Let people laugh if they want to. No one comes to the aid if we forget any answer in the exam; only Udi helps. We must understand that God alone helps. The Udi alone can remove the fear from the mind as also the Charan-Sparsh (touching the divine feet) of God. Not these friends who mock at me. And who can instill these values? If parents begin to feel shy in the first place then children too will feel shy about applying Udi while going out. Nothing doing! If we are wearing a locket; we are not flaunting it and will not try to show off. Why to feel shy? Yes, we believe in God hence let us wear it. Let people say anything. Because they are going to say what they want. So we will wear it without any inhibitions. Because they are going to say what they like. No one will come to your aid; everyone has experienced this. My dear children, if you have ten relatives; ten friends. Do one thing; take leave from your office for a month and spread the news that you have been sacked from your job and that you have lost all your money to gambling, you are a mere beggar with a huge debt and wish to stay with all your relatives. Remember, no one will entertain you for more than two days. No one will even lend you five paise. Even the so called blood relation, thick friends will run away giving excuses. However, when they are sure that you have ten million rupees; ten billion rupees they will say; ‘Oh, you want five thousand rupees; here it is.’ He knows you can afford to return. Then what is wrong in being generous? Remember, until and unless one is not burdened, till then all the relations can be maintained. But remember, God is the one who never shuns you even if you are penniless, the whole world shirks you, ignores you and humiliates you; still he never disowns you. It’s you who deny God. Do not leave Him in any situation. Do not imagine things about God. It’s most erroneous to imagine things about God. Hence, it is a must to read works such as Sai Satcharita. Do not imagine things about Baba. Instead of wondering how Baba is; gain knowledge about how Baba’s bhakta were by studying His life. We will read Sai Satcharita, but why? For knowing when Saibaba was pleased with His bhaktas? How was He pleased? Because if we behave as those bhaktas did then our Sai will be pleased with us. Therefore why just imagine things about God? Whether God was such or such? And which caste did Baba belong to? In what way are you concerned; tell me. Why do you want to know whether Baba was a Hindu or a Muslim? Baba was Baba; Baba is Baba; and Baba will remain Baba. We must know that we dare not segregate Baba in this way. Instead of harbouring qualms about God, we must read His life and the life of His bhaktas. Tell me about Vitthal; do you have the work on Vitthal’s life? Today, millions will go on the occasion of Aashadhi Ekadashi. There is work on Ram’s life, on Krishna’s life; as to where He was born, what happened? We do not know where Saibaba was born but He resided in Shirdi for sixty years as per the History i.e. life work. What History does Vitthal have? Only that bhakta Pundalik called the child form of Krishna and He came running at dusk. It was the time when cows return to their sheds. The dust that rose due to the cattle hoofs smeared His body and He became Pandurang. He remained standing with His hands on His waist atop the brick that Pundalik offered Him; that’s all. Still why is Vitthal loved by innumerable beings? Because of the life of His bhaktas; only because of the life of His bhaktas. And we can see the life of these bhaktas. Even today, we can watch the movie ‘Tukaram’. Even if you see it umpteenth time you will not get bored. Those who get bored watching ‘Tukaram’; regard him as a fool. Only ‘Aaraamaa murkhaanaam’ i.e. an idle foolish person will be bored. Because the person who enacted the role of Tukaram became so unified with the character of Tukaram that even after concluding the shooting of the movie he did not utter anything else other than the words ‘Shri Hari Vitthal, Jai Hari Vitthal’. In this way the bhakti of Pagnis (the actor) went on increasing. This is why we get convinced that Tukaram was like him. This tale may be a bit contradictory to the History but not with the reality. This is what we must realize. Vitthal has no life as such. His life is wee bit. It’s from the life of the bhaktas that we understand that He cleaned utensils for Janabai, washed her sarees. However, tomorrow if a woman says, ‘wash my sarees;’ then remember Goddess Rakhumai is there to spank her. Because Janabai did not call Vitthal to wash her laundry; she just continued doing bhakti. She expended every moment of her life for the cause of Vitthal. It is then that Rakhumai must have suggested Vitthal with ‘O’ Dear one, please go; why just stand passively with hands on waist; see how much our child toils. Go and help her.’ 108%. This is the life of Vitthal that we must know. This is why we must read all these books. Not for acquiring knowledge but for enhancing bhakti. For the progress of our bhakti. We have to read in order that we perform bhakti in a better manner; to do bhakti efficiently. Because by mere reading also the words gradually seep into our mind., Truly, suppose if you decide to read the Sunderkand daily, or one chapter of Sai Satcharita daily and your attention wavers which results in skipping a few verses; just do not worry! If you have the time; read them again or else proceed further. First accept that ‘I am an ordinary human being, a normal bhakta not a great scholar or a Yogi-bhakta. I cannot achieve utmost concentration. Whatever I read is mine. It’s God’s ceaseless grace that I have the opportunity to read the Sai Satcharita.’ Remember, it’s God who decides not to shower His grace on someone whom He does not allow to tread His path. 100%. This is ordained by God, ‘Someone who has done such deeds in the past birth that he should not at all remember My name; he should not have faith in Me.’ It’s only then that a person becomes an atheist. Remember no one becomes an atheist by choice. When God decides that since someone’s ego has burgeoned and he needs to be given a check, God on His own stops His remembrance. This is when man is born as an atheist or becomes one if he had earlier been a believer. God decides that this person has now become egoistic he should therefore be side-tracked. He then leaves no support for him. Remember, we may be anyhow; a sinner, foolish, thief, cunning, lustful, faltering but still if we are in awe of God and have some bhakti and love for God and are assured that He is the supreme of all then you can consider that you are lucky. That your luck has not yet abandoned you. However, the day you feel that God does not exist, God is not judicious then you should know that now you have lost it all, and has no one to fall back on. We must understand, ‘Niraadhaar aabhaalaachaa Toch bhaar vaahi’ (He alone fosters the forlorn sky). Mere imagination does not render support; only truth lends support. Now, just imagine that what I have told you several times in the past. Suppose you wish to go through a forest from one end to the other; all alone with wild beasts around. Tell me how you will go. You will not go unless it is absolutely necessary. You will go if the need be but how? Your tongue will become paralyzed and if a tiger does come in front of you at a farthest distance of two thousand feet; you would drop down in a daze. Even before the tiger eats you; you will become flat. But suppose if I give you a gun and say that the bullets shooting out of this gun never miss the target. If you just say ‘tiger’ and hold the gun anyhow the bullets will kill the tiger. That instant the fear leaves your mind. Even if the tiger passes by; you do dare to go ahead because of the gun in your hand. Then suppose, after reaching the other end of the forest I tell you that there was not a single bullet in the gun. What difference does it make? Right? But you had the gun and My word. But you should have faith in that word then things can be achieved. But suppose it’s the other way round; you have the gun which is loaded with bullets but do not know how to operate the gun. Then of what use is the gun to you? Even before you could aim at the tiger it would have you safely tucked inside its stomach. Right? This means, we are not benefited by mere array of words, games that the imagination plays and that what is not truth. There is only one truth in this world, God and for human’s God’s bhakti. Today, we have seen only the first element of the verse, ‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’ which means dear friends do not chase these illusions, these Kalpavrukshas. Try and win over Ram in whose land these Kalpavrukshas cultivate. He continues to love you. Learn to accept His love. You have to increase the length and breadth of your rucksack and darn the wholes if any to accept His love and we should realize that it can only be achieved through bhakti and seva.

We are listening to this beautiful ‘Sunderkaand’ of Pipa which enlivens every word of it. We can literally see Sitamai sitting and Hanumant kneeling before Her saying, ‘Ramdoot mei Maa Tu Janaki | Satya sapath Karunaanidhaan ki | Bhare bilochan neer |’ We can literally feel that tears must have trickled down Hanumant’s cheeks. While saying ‘Kahehu Taat us mor pranaamaa |’, Sita must have said to Hanumant, ‘Sab prakaar Prabhu Poorankaamaa |’ that my husband Ramchandra is Poornakaam (accomplishes anything entirely). The prayer that Janakimata Herself did was ‘Deen Dayaal birudu sambhaari | Harahu Nath mum sankat bhaari |. This was the message sent to Prabhu Ramchandra and through whom? Through Ram-doot (Ram’s envoy). But we forget that he is not just Ram-doot he is Janaki-doot (Sitamai’s envoy) too. He brought Ram’s message and ring to Janaki and took back the jewel from her hairdo to Ram. This is why Maruti (Hanumant) alone is such who moves freely from God to bhakta and from bhakta to God. We must realize that he is Ram-doot as well as bhakta-doot. If we think we require an agent to go to God then why gather around useless quacks? Make this Hanumant your agent. Because he is willing to become bhakta-doot just as he is Ram-doot. He is Ram-doot and bhakta-doot hence which is the name most dear to Hanumant? ‘Sita-shoak-Vinaashini’. Sita was residing in the Ashokwan (forest of pine trees) and was sorrowful. Eliminating the grief of Sita grieving in the Ashokwan; is definitely greater than the Ashok tree and the Ashokwan. We must realize that it must surely be an orchard of ‘Aaraamaa kalpavrukshaanaam’ i.e. a garden of Kalpavruksha. How strong must the envoy be who freed Janakimata; living in the Ashokwan of her grief?

Ravana’s queen Mandodari tells him, ‘Jaasu doot bal barani na jaai | Tehi aaye pur kavan bhalaai |’. ‘Jaasu doot bal barani na jaai |’ means ‘Ravana, note that if the master of this envoy whose strength cannot be described comes, what will be the condition of this kingdom?’ We too are told the same thing by our Mandodari. Mandodari means the inducting self defense that harnesses our ego. Every human being has this gut feeling or self defense mechanism which suggests that Dear fellow, God exists! He is watching everything. Do not leave Him. But our ego chases the Shadripu and ignores our Mandodari. Thus, the being tries to grab God’s authority thinking, ‘I shall acquire my fruit. I shall decide my fruit, I should get like this.’ We try to seize Ram’s Sita. Authority and power are Ram’s strength that we try to plunder and thus we become Ravana. No; we do not deserve that. We cannot do that. Janaki is our Mother. Ram is our Father. We do not wish to become Ravana. We wish to become Bibhishan. What message has Lakshman sent to Ravana in Sunderkand? He has given audacious message that ‘Either you give up ego, greed, envy and submit to Ram as your brother has done or get scorched by the fire of Ram’s arrows along with your descendants.’

O’ mortal, you have only two alternatives; that of Ravana or Bibhishan. No other way, don’t choose Ravana’s path. When we tread the path of illusion, when we abandon Ram, we have to go on the path of Ravana. Though we may dwell in the kingdom of demons, if we submit to Ram as Bibhishan did; then remember that what Ravana accomplished after sacrificing his ten heads was acquired by Bibhishan by just prostrating before Ram in reverence. Ravana had to offer his ten heads into a Yadnya to get the kingdom of Lanka and to acquire strength but still he did not become immortal. Whereas always remember that Bibhishan became immortal; and was also crowned the king of Lanka only because he placed his head on the Charan of Ram with utmost faith.
